We are back from our weekends and now it's time to see how we all did. Saturday: I hit my favorite hardware store early and picked up the last few bits I needed for both the module project as well as the slot car table, then came home, picked up Angela, got the dreaded grocery shopping done, had lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon in the garage. The weather was nice enough that I didn't need anything more than a space heater and I was able to cut down and essentially "kit" two more modules. Sunday: I slept in till 7:00 and set off after a hardy breakfast to the garage once again. I was able to get one end of the slot car table done the night before but for this day, I concentrated on the modules. With all the strips cut, I then cut everything to length and then worked on a series of jigs to make assembly smoother. I made jigs to hold the legs, leg mounts and foot bottoms so I can clamp the jig into my drill press and quickly, accurately and easily drill the necessary holes and counter sinks needed for those parts. The only thing I have left with the kits is for me to cut in the channels that will accept the cross braces in the center of the module. I was also happy to learn by using my construction methods, only a 1/4-inch of the original 2 x 4 panel is not used. I still didn't get as far as I wanted but all in all, a productive weekend. So how about you? How did you do? Friday seemed like a good indication of some construction taking place this past weekend. Let us know. We'll gather around once again on Friday the 26th and start out another weekend full of projects. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and as always... High Greens!
Not as productive as I had hoped. Cut ties wood and pcb ties for two turnouts. Saturdays yardwork left me too stiff and sore to do much else. Luckily the wife was stiff and sore also.
http://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/lets-see-the-steam.81757/page-9#post-1042844 As simple as this loco looks, it is going to have well over 100 hours in it! Wow. Got about 10-12 hours in it this weekend just tweaking stuff and solving performance issues!
Saturday - Changed out a GFI receptacle in the kitchen. Then I changed the front rotors and pads on my truck. Then ---- chilled. As it was also our anniversary. Sunday- Painted my first Z scale car. A cattle car for a friend. Painted the interior of another friends O scale firehouse. Man -- what an extreme!! LOL Then I put a decoder in my N scale SP 4-8-8-2 AC-4. That went well. She runs great. I changed the decoder in my SP 2-8-8-2 AC-2. From an old DZ-121 to a DZ-126. This one is giving me trouble --- so, I stopped and will revisit it tonight. I ended up not working on my F-7 set. Perhaps next weekend. Hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf
TREEEEEESSSSS! Yes my wife thinks I’ve lost it. I finished up this batch of trees and my son started up another batch which I will finish up next weekend. I need lots and lots of trees. The finished product is in the three red solo cups. Also made a few small ones for the mountain top. Going with a forced perspective look. I need more medium size trees.
Doing a great Job Kevin. Looking FWD to you and your chosin few to come over my way. WE are a few weeks away, but looking fwd just the same.. You're trees look great!!
My weekend runneth over. Been working on an AHM Pacific (from the old days). I had painted it black over its Conrail colors years ago and its been sitting in a drawer. With many problems this weekend, I got it DCC equipped. Managed to get the loco pickup back to the tender to connect to the tender pickups. Got the headlight going, but need a higher resistance resistor to tone it down a bit. Had 2 separate wires break off the decoder and was glad I bought a new soldering iron. Originally had the motor wires crossed but all is good now. Still need to hook up and mount backup light. Only problem is it starts like a jack rabbit but then runs fairly well. Maybe someday I can afford to remotor it! lol
