Wow, the last weekend in January already. Looks like 2017 is going to be a fast year. Lets get this express train started! My shop is busy! I have the last bits on the D&RGW GP30, four 2-rail O scale projects in paint waiting for decals and last night I started two BNSF fantasy CB&Q heritage units in N. I'm really loving the Iwata airbrush I picked up for Christmas. Tomorrow is another half day in the shop, so I hope to get the GP30 close to finished as well as mask off the two CB&Q Kato units and get the gray painted. The shop closes at noon as I'm off to Dave's (PPUIN) Layout Open House and Operating Session. I'm looking forward to operating on his layout again as it represents more local and road switching in 1970's Illinois. I also look forward in learning some new switching techniques. Sunday I plan to work on a few of my projects. While the first show of the year for the City Job isn't until April, I still have a fair amount of work to do. Last weekend I finished up this little cassette. It is a proof of concept and may evolve into a type of cassette where I can bring complete trains sans way-car and motor (CB&Q for locomotive) to a show rather than hunt through the foam lined boxes. This would make a great way to be organized for operating sessions and at shows by simply matching switch list 1 with cassette 1 for example. This one is wired as you can see as it will be powered and used as a stand alone DCC program track. I also need to repair a turnout servo on the third module so that the throw is complete without sticking. In general, just fix some of the finer spots on the layout so I can start building the forth module for this year. So how about you? What do have planned for the coming weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble back on Monday the 30th. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and as always... High Greens!
Hope to continue with my sign project. And, perhaps make some more trees. Oh, and get the grade crossing planks down. Make it easier for the cars and trucks to cross the rails -- LOL!! Hope ya'll have a great weekend, Wolf
Should be getting the slope gauge today in the mail and will be able to start planning out the track elevation on the new railroad...seems like forever just to get to this point. Sure miss the last Rail Road I took down in December...feels like I have a missing child or something..
FInally, I can spend a tidbit of money on my hobby. So I bought plywood, foam, cork, and track for a couple small twin freemoN modules. I have a bit left to do before these modules can be put into service, but i'm excited.
