Good morning, good afternoon or evening, wherever you may be. Welcome back to the Gateway to the weekend! Looks like a lot of you have some great projects going on, let's keep it going.

Saturday: I just got a box of goodies in the mail for my HO layout that I hope to look at, but my main focus will be the finishing up of the N scale GP30 project that has been hanging over my head. I just want it to be over. Soon as that is done, I plan to jump head long into the B&M shadowbox project. I just found out a few of our local favorite shows are coming back this year and I want to get this layout going in time for many of them. The future Mrs. is taking me out Saturday night for Valentine Dinner, so I need to be prepared with that engagement preferably with a gift.

Sunday: Only other thing I have planned is work on the City Job switch list, check the freight cars for operations, perform any repairs as needed and do a run through in prep for the late winter, early spring operation sessions I'll be holding once again. I'm sure domestic duties will be assigned as needed and other unforeseen pitfalls, but I shall prevail.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 14th which is, yes, Valentine's Day which means if you have a significant other, a proper gift or card may do nicely. On top of all that, let us know what you got done on the model railroad. Until Monday, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Since the weather is supposed to be nice with highs in the 50's today and tomorrow we plan on doing some leash training with the puppy outside and maybe take her to a park. Sunday it maybe snowing. Gotta love Pennsylvania weather. I have few other chores around the house to catch up on.

I hope to work on the coal yard base and setting up the coal yard. With the nice weather I may be able to seal the Golden Valley Canning Company buildings and then be able to add decals to them. There are track feeds to install. I have a ton of cars to tune up also.

    Greetings all.
Saturday will be working in the train room either with scenery of some sort or working on bridges for the new crossover to extend Albemarle City. Not sure yet. That is a decision that will be made with my 7:00AM cup of coffee.
Sunday: Will be some office work for an hour or 2 and then continuing whatever I started on Saturday in the train room The super bowl Sunday evening.

    Enjoy the weekend.

Hopefully we will finish the major remodel for my kids karate Dojo tomorrow morning. Its been a Lot of Dads on Deck activity. We also have the beginnings of the Coast's Mardi Gras parade season and have superbowl party plans for Sunday. And there's the usual weekend domestic and kids stuff. All of which is to say that the best I might be able to do is some sippin and switchin.

    Good morning all,

Weather is getting nice here so outdoor / yard projects are going to be on the schedule. The warmer weather will also allow me to do some air brush painting and I think first will be the yard office. Last week I found a couple more kits that I had forgotten I had so now have all the buildings I need for Carlin except for a couple that I want to scratch build.

Everyone enjoy the weekend whatever you are doing.

Friday: Hope to get the inventory of all-things-train-like done for the train room, then off to dinner with friends.
Saturday: Train show and swap meet. Yeah! Then home to work on a logging water tower and maybe a little more work on the -- Top secret -- project.
Sunday: Hopefully, finish the two aforementioned items, then foo-ball!

Wow! Am impressed again! (y) So much going on. I finished the rib application phase for the open top hoppers. (y) Thursday was "the battle of the ampersand". First a little background. A while ago I ran short of letter size printer paper. When I went to the office supply store, somehow, I got into a conversation with the lady in the print shop department. She said the print shop now used 24# paper as the 20# paper used too much ink. I explained that I used the paper for the model railroad. The upshot of this was that she just gave me a number of sheets of the 24# paper as a free sample! Happy, happy, joy, joy! :D Next, the ampersand. The GM&O ampersand is not the standard ampersand. :( It was apparently designed by a drunken Bulgarian (my apologies to drunken Bulgarians). It looks like a Cyrillic "yeh", a backwards three with a little inverted "T" tail on the right bottom. I could not find it on the interweb, even to purchase. So, what we did was scan it in as black on white (I need white letters on black). Two tries on the scan (needed jpeg, not pdf). Pulled it up in Paint 3D. Got the colors reversed. Manipulated it with a snip and cut app as well. Imported it to the spreadsheet where reside the reporting marks and Etc. And voila' we got a good test print. :D Fyi, this had to be reduced from a font size seven at a thirty percent reduction. So, you see, I have been having fun! This is the 'mostest words I ever put on here. Sorry it is so long. Be well, safe and fun to be with! (y)

I had originally planned to be assembling my new modules, but have not heard a single peep from the manufacturer about my order. Usually they let you know something. Am not exactly feeling happy. Unfortunately this company has the most extensive variety of base kits anywhere, of which I am aware. Looked at others I could find, but almost all show everything as being out of stock. :( I can easily find other things to do, but had my sights set on this project.

Work on the NP coach diaphragms continued this week. My side trip into the seating section turned out to be more significant than originally planned. I will report more on that as things actually happen over the next several days.

Looks like a few "support" activities need to be dealt with this weekend.

Time to go through my tax checklist to see what documents I need to get things wrapped up for 2021.

My two rechargeable Dremel tools are down along with my 50-year-old original. One of the battery units appears to be toast. It was very old, on rebuilt battery packs and the switch mechanism looks worn out. The other rechargeable has potential for battery replacement. That will depend on finding someone locally to weld tabs on Li-ion cells. It is not quite as old, but well beyond support from Dremel. Looks like I am in the market for at least one new rotary tool for the hobby bench. Searching for something capable of low-speed operation to avoid melting plastic. Might be a null set.

My ancient desktop computer is having a startup issue. Need to troubleshoot that. It supports most of my computer-based train activities so figuring out a solution is important going forward.

If I get those projects resolved I will continue on the diaphragms.

Saturday: Listen in on Lowell Smith's product announcements in the morning.

Sunday: Morning soccer match followed by bacon and eggs. Probably have "the game" on in the background later while trying to complete projects. Watch "All Creatures Great and Small" with the wife to end the weekend.

    Stay safe,

No, no, no ☻ I'm not doing this again. Nope, not never.
I have no idea what I might get done. Maybe some figure painting.

Oh my, Moose misread that and thought you were resigning yourself to the impossible-for-a-moose job of finger painting...

@Moose2013 Well, now that you mention it, I do have a moose to paint up. I could do it with my fingers. ☻

I FINALLY found more 20 ga wire for feeders so I can keep connecting feeders in the classification yard to the buss. I will try to do as much of that as I can.

I also started on the Walthers Champion Packing kit that I am going to modify for use as a power house for the roundhouse and machine shop. I “mortared” the brick surfaces and started painting the concrete sections this morning, should finish that and perhaps start some assembly.

I’m still in isolation from COVID this weekend. We are all feeling much better though, so I’m going to work on a few things I didn’t get to last week while sick:

    1) I’ve got some 48’ well cars I’m going to heavily weather. I’d originally set them aside to sell later since I understand most wells on the rails today are either 40’ or 53’. But I figure between “Rule 1” and some old forum posts I’ve seen, there might be a few still in active service here and there. Going to use my new airbrush to add grime.

    2) Putting a wrecked covered hopper on a Redstreak flat. I’ve built the MTL boxcar and tank car flat kits already. But I’ve also got their two car QUAX set as well as a couple of hoppers to put on them. So I’ll tackle one hopper while decals ship for the other.

    3) Odds and ends: Rehabilitate rolling stock/structures: a broken couple here, a weathering job I’m not happy about there, glue that dried out on a chimney…that kind of thing.

This weekend will be fun. Utah Free-moN has a set up at the Kanab UT show. We have the largest layout of the show.

Other than that no other plans.

Over the last couple of weeks, I haven't really gotten to do much train wise and don't see that changing this weekend but if I get a chance, there are several small projects that need some attention. Hope you all have a great weekend!

A quick update. I received an email from the module manufacturer. Apparently they have received a lot of recent orders. (Is T-Trak popularity quickly rising?) Anyhow, they are backed up and working to get the orders out.
