Well we've done it again. Another week is almost done, so it's time to start thinking about the weekend and what we have planned in the shop or anywhere else our hobby takes us. Saturday: I really do not have anything planned so far for the weekend. With summer here, my attention has been more on Jess and playing with her as well as spending most evenings and weekends cleaning, organizing and throwing away old bits in the garage. After three weeks, it's looking better and I hope to start working on some module ideas here soon. We also have a annual RR Days here in Monticello IL this coming September which coincides with the Decatur Train Fair. Last year I had an operations session on Saturday evening that was a big hit and I'm thinking of doing it again. If that is the case, I need to start planning that. Sunday: After domestic duties are done, I may treat Angela and Jess for a day out. We are supposed to get a rare cool and dry weekend so Sunday sounds like the perfect day to take off Jess's top and go exploring. Since I really have nothing planned, I guess we'll wait and see. So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Railfaning, track work, maybe a show? Let us know! We'll all assemble again on Monday the 7th to see what or how we did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and of course... High Greens!
Hmmmm....tonight, METALLICA!!! Tomorrow, my wife and oldest daughter are going to see Ed Sheeran, so I hope to put the roof on D'Amato Lumber and build the office...
Hope to weather up my new oil derrick - then place it on the layout. And, I hope to add the access road to both of the oil derricks. It's so darn hot up in my train room - we'll see if I can get anything accomplished. Summer is such a slow time for my modelling. Hope Y'all have a great weekend, Wolf
Sadly again I have real train issues to deal with: 1) possible plugged turbo screen on a GP40-2 2)Low oil pressure and bad cam bearings on another GP40-2 3) broken flexplate on another GP40-2 4) Install carbody on B40-8 5) Finish FRA inspection and defects with a bad oil sample (sodium) on an SD40-2 6) Change main and rod bearings on a B39-8 7) begin an FRA inspection on a B39-8 8) Begin 5 year FRA inspection on an SD70M-2 airbrake work + low oil pressure shutdown. I'll have help of course but it all takes planning... Randy
I'll be heading on over to the LHS to get some more supplies for the layout under construction. Ballast and a big dirty factory for one corner spur come to mind (it has to be dirty), and take a look into scenery materials. I'm also in dullcote withdrawal... Most of the track is set and glued down (just one spur to glue down, for a scrapyard I just decided fifteen minutes ago), some joints need soldering. I improvised a straight piece out of a piece of 18" radius sectional track. I cut one out of three links between ties on the inside of the curve, then horsed the thing straight (or some semblance of straight) to add to the end of my scrapyard spur. Freestyle layout construction is fun!
Randy - I sure hope you have adequate help for all of that work! Any one of those could take a whole weekend!
- Going to finish changing all my plastic wheels with metal until I run out and have to order more. - wire the track at both ends of my yard for operation (engine facility and car shop tracks). - install a digitrax decoder (just arrived) in one of my C44-9W warbonnets that needed a new decoder. - program three other locomotives that just arrived. - repair my mountains and finish the "access panel" in them if time permits.
