Welcome to the gateway to the weekend! Are you ready for the weekend? I'm on my way to Denver for the annual Rocky Mountain Train show, so that is my weekend plans. What about yours? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday, April 8th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay healthy, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Friday: The big event is waiting for this to cure:
    silicone slug curing 240404.JPG
Not sure what you are looking at? I decided to scrap the boiler I was working on two weeks ago. One thing I needed was a "slug" to check the clearance while I was turning the brass tubing. The assembled chassis was not suitable. I am using a GHQ pewter boiler I found at a swap meet a few years ago as a mold. That is it in the picture. Upside down and filled with silicone. Hopefully this attempt will be successful. If not, I may have to use layers of latex. After reconciling the checking and savings accounts, Sharon and I are putting plans to paper for our road to trip to Bethlehem, PA for the N Scale convention in June.

Saturday: Depends on the casting outcome. With that done, I can redraw the interior dimensions of the boiler and work on the setup. There is a soccer game to watch in the morning and another in the evening. We might head to a local pub to catch the second and grab some tasty treats. There are always dandelions to pull this time of year, too.

Sunday: The morning starts off with more soccer. Then out for bacon and eggs. I am optimistic I will be cutting the new boiler in the afternoon. On the realistic side, there will be more dandelions.

    Stay safe,

I won't say good morning because it's still Thursday evening here on the west coast.

My entire weekend will revolve around our Peninsula Ntrak and AsiaNrail exhibit at at the Hiller Air Museum in San Carlos, CA. We started setup yesterday afternoon and finished this morning. The layout was fully operational by noon and we will be running it Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10:00am to 5:00pm.
Everyone have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

I will say good morning, because it is, and yesterday's snow blast is over and done (I told my friends, a couple of weeks ago, don't change your tires for summer yet, we can still get a snow dump in April! Did they listen to me? Nahhhh... ).

I had a capital idea after I took apart a faucet water filter cartridge. At first, I wanted to take one piece and paint it and set it down on the layout somewhere as a tank of sorts. Then I thought, ditch the innards, put the two parts I sawed apart back together again, and set it on an open frame base, like some projects around here, and use some spare industry tubing to connect it somewhere, like into a factory or a boiler house... Ideas are a-brewin'!!!:)

I still have two Atlas RS3 shells to finish as Central Vermont 1859 and 1860. And a lighting job inside an Athearn GP7, CN 4803.

I can't complain about having nothing to do...:D

My winter tires take a summer break on the 26th.:p

Train related will be trying to figure out if I can plan an N scale switching layout to run around the outside walls of the dining room. While doing that I will start assembly of 6 Tichy Train Group 40' flat cars in HO. Through in studying DCC operation for the HO engines.
Aside from that it looks like winter is melting away here in Wisconsin and now I can ride my electric trike to go hunting for needed items. I'll be pulling the trailer just in case it's too much for the rear basket. :)

Good morning from cloudy, cold and wet Northeast Ohio!

I am sitting at the doctor’s office while my wife has physical therapy and then visit with the orthopedic surgeon to see how the surgery is doing.

Later today I will finish assembling the Evan’s 4780 CF covered hopper and then paint it and then continue work on the Moloco GATC RBL kit I am working on.

Saturday our club has been invited for a tour of the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railroad shops in Brewster, Oh. Later in the evening I will work on decalling the covered hopper and continue on the RBL.

Sunday is housekeeping including laundry and our FaceTime call with my daughter in Vancouver, WA and more modeling.

    Morning-

Haven’t posted for the last few weeks for a bunch of reasons-mostly not any time for train stuff.

Saturday I think I’ll sleep in, go for a run, and then tackle some chores before trying to figure out the way forward for the garden. One of my kids has a soccer game too.

Sunday I’m going to clean up the benchwork and take a look at my track plan to figure out if I want to make any slight adjustments.

Greetings and good morning from NCAA Crazy Raleigh, NC. The NC State women have their final four, first round game tonight and men's first round is tomorrow night. Both have VERY tough games in the first round tonight. It is win or go home.

This weekend the modeling plans are being kept simple because I want these things done so I can move on to other projects.

    1. Get the barn project set on a small diorama base so my brother more easily set it on his layout.
    2. Air brush. I have several projects backing up due to needing air-brushed parts.
    3. Anything else that gets done will be gravy.

Have a great weekend all and GO WOLFPACK!!

Denver train show! Woo, woo! Gotta' have a boiler. (y) Ahh, the air museum. Filter cartridge = boiler! ;) New mountain rising! It's needed item hunting time! :) W&LE shop visit!! How cool. MetraMan01, good to see a "check in". (y) Gotta' love a Mogul. Look forward to "gravy". ;) I am on here a little early due to leaving for UA, Tuscaloosa to see my granddaughter's honors day. :) This past week saw a lot of progress on the depot. (y) However, the bay window was somewhat damaged during installation of wall sections. You guys know the rule: If not happy with it now, Etc. :cautious: So, the entire bay window section was cut off and a new one built. Final attachment should be today or tomorrow. Then on to the roof. Pun intended. :p Have a great weekend. :D

Happy Friday afternoon! Finally home from a long week. Considering some less than stellar results last weekend, I think this weekend will be a lot of drinking coffee and watching the trains run and not much else :)

Well, today was interesting as I woke up this morning it was snowing outside. Around 5am a tree came down just outside our fence and blocked over half the road. Around 30 minutes later the power went off for around five minutes and then came back on. Around 6am the local fire department got stuck while driving around our downed tree bits as they were going up the snow covered hill to deal with making the downed power line "safe".

Overall we got four or five inches of snow. The tree that came down just outside our fence has been partially cleaned up and moved off the road and we will be taking it away for disposal in a week or two.

Tomorrow I've got plans to return my old Xfinity modem as I recently upgraded to a newer model as they bumped our speeds up to ~1200Mbs. We are likely going to do some shopping while we are out since it's ~45mi to the Xfinity store.

Sunday we will see what happens, since the weather is supposed to be clear I might get outside and cut more wood for the modular layout.

This weekend will be spent trying not to aggravate the hernia. I need to make runs to the grocery store, produce store, and pharmacy. The part needed for the dishwasher came in and the repairman is scheduled to come tomorrow and finish the repair. Since my wife and daughter are going over to Dalton Farms in New Jersey to pick some tulips I am home waiting for the repairman. I am hoping after the repairman leaves, I can run to the local hobby shop.

I plan on running some long test trains over the new bridges. If they are successful, I will begin working on weathering the bridges. I can also work on the tunnel portal and stairs if time permits. If I need a change of pace, I have numerous rolling stock to tune up or build.

I am determined to get this dresser and metal cabinet out of my RR space(garage). I bought a bunch of storage bins and a couple furniture dollies for some to rest on. I also bought some shelving for my gardening shed so even more clutter can be removed.

I am motivated to get this done so I can begin the benchwork for the rest of the mainline.

    In no particular order:

    • Glue the snowplows onto my U30C.

    • The club's traveling Z scale layout is getting upgraded from the benchwork up, so I'd like to sit down and play with track plans.

    • Glue the snowplows back onto my U30C again. Seriously, they've popped loose once each today, and I can't figure out why. Nothing about the joint is unusual.

    • Train club cleanup day tomorrow. Wading into the minefield of clutter in the shared workspace should be cathartic.

    • Weather my Black Widow GP9. My tried and true Bloody Nose weathering workflow doesn't apply here, so I'm sticking to safe, washable techniques.

    • Prime the U30C. If the snowplows permit it.

    • Put a build date decal on my PFE reefer, just so it knows I haven't forgotten about it. Only 3,843 more decals left to go.

I made good progress today clearing the layout/garage space for the rest of the mainline benchwork.

A before and after looking from the helix corner where the round RR sign is. I still have use of the workbench, but the TV died. I think I will put the new TV over the helix to have more space for the Ryobi wall.

minor plans this week.........built a Showcase truck on saturday, and have some locos that need some TLC. I have a pair of Kato NW2s that are consisted together (probably forever) and they still have the Kato couplers, which don't play nice with most other couplers, so at least the 2 end couplers need swapped out......guess the ones between locos can stay as is. I also need to redo the consist so they are back to back vs end to end. Also need to break a couple other consists up and reprogram a couple other locos. Lastly I have one DCC install in a Kato RSC2.
