We are back from that two day thing we call the weekend. Time to see how we did. Saturday: Still not feeling the best and coupled with nasty snowy weather, both Angela and I decided to do all the domestic duties we couldn’t do the following week due to the plague. That meant grocery shopping, laundry, post office and other mundane tasks. The rest of the day had us camped out on the sofa. Ah winter in Illinois...... Sunday: I woke about 5:30 and suddenly realized I could somewhat breath normally. Taking Lucy out, I started to formulate a plan to go to Peoria. Well I decided to do just that. This day was warmer, 46, and the sun was out. The drive was easy without a lot of traffic too. I got to the show just as it was opening and met up with a lot of friends and spent the afternoon catching up. I also learned that the show I was supposed to go to next weekend had actually been pushed back a few weeks, which is great news as gives me time to get ready. Unfortunately, I didn’t see a lot of N scale at the show and my favorite dealer at this show has since closed his shop. I enjoyed a nice ride home and finished the day by starting the assembly of the second three foot T-Kits module that will make up the B&M switching layout. So how about you? How was your weekend? Let us know. We’ll get together again on Friday the 23rd to start the process all over again. Until then, stay healthy! Stay safe, have a great week and as always... High Greens!
Not sure if this is any accomplishment... USPS delivered to me a pair of Bachmann MDT engines. I plan to use these as donor chassis for a couple of HOn30 projects. One of these is on order from Shapeways. Waiting.....
My F-7 project continued. Ready for a gloss coat then decals: Hope Y'all had an awesome weekend, Wolf
Well I can say I’m officially treed out. Friday I made 35 more trees. Saturday did t get anything done. Sunday was a productive day. I started planting some of those trees I made and found I didn’t make enough of the small trees. So I made a bunch more of those. While those dried I finished the pile of 56 trees from two weeks ago. I also finished the 35 trees from Friday night. i now have two full boxes of trees at my disposal. I quickly finished the tray of small trees too then went back to planting trees. As I was cutting them down to size I attempted to cut my finger off with the super sharp pair of scissors. After a little first aid I returned and finished planting trees on my planes fire and rescue diorama (drop in mountain for my layout). It is now ready to drop into the corner on my layout. So now it’s time to move back into the train room and start sceniking that corner. The last thing I did last night was make two berms for my two oil tanks for the oil refinery. It’s part of that corner. Since it is snowing today I plan on spending most of the day working in the train room with a small detour to the vet for a visit with the dog. I glued the two berms down last night. All that’s left there is to figure out what color of sand I want to use to cover them up with. Today’s plans are mostly ballasting and then a little static grass and tree planting. I do have to remove about 6 “ of track in a small yard designated for the oil refinery so I can get the oil loading platform to fit. I will lose the capacity to store one tank car less in that area is all. It’s a three track yard.
Sold some N scale at a local train show & shared some tables with some friends. I made enough money for a couple purchases: Got this autographed book for $15, used & in good shape: Got this used 4 pack of GN books for $60, which were also in great shape. Sold a locomotive that paid for them. Finds like these make going to local trains show very much worth it. You just never know what you'll find.
Yesterday was so productive, I hope to keep it going. My coal pile turned out pretty cool. Due to where the tipple ended up at I may be adding a small piece of foam to the fascia so I can put the legs under the conveyor belt. The berms for the oil tanks really turned out nicely with the sand and all.
While continuing the reorg of the garage/hobby space, I found 6 tank cars I bought off a friend who changed scales. They have no w been added to the master roster (in Excel), upgraded to metal wheels, and then returned to the appropriate storage box. Small victories.
