Are there any N scale Union Pacific modellers out there? After you read the great topics here on the N scale forum drop into the Union Pacific forum we don't just post about prototypical Up but also modelling Colonel- UP forum moderator ------------------ http://members.optusnet.com.au/~pcassar/index
I always visit you, Paul. I like all western roads, and want to know what is going on ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery Alan's European Gallery Alan's British Steam Gallery
I ordered a UP Challenger for my NP & UP railroad. I hope it runs ok, cause my only other UP loco is the Mikes, which run resonably well. ------------------ Robert Ray The NP & UP N-Scale Railroad

My roads are BNSF and UP. Currently my UP roster is rather small consisting of two SD45 locos and a 2-8-8-2 Mallet. Here is a quick (dumb) question. How do railroads exchange cars? I know cars from various roads end up on lines not owned by those roads. What I am not sure about is the business end of it. How does it work. Example, does UP have to pay BNSF to haul it's cars over BNSF rail or is BNSF using UP cars for BNSF business? And on shared routes (where one road has access rights to another) who services the business on the route. The home road or the visiting road? I am trying to figure out all of these type of issues so that I will end up with semi realistic operations on my upcoming layout. Thanks Matt
I'm not totally sure Matt my guess is some railroads have reciprocal agreements to allow each others rollingstock on their railroads but I'd also guess most have a charge per car load for any railroad that uses there lines. Talking about realistic operations that is something I've yet been able to comprehend myself might make good for a new forum for us modellers who need to learn about realistic operations and timetables ------------------ http://members.optusnet.com.au/~pcassar/index
