Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase one of these KCS southern Belle beauties but I haven't seen either one in person and I'm unfamiliar with Intermountain.. (Intermountain 5161 covered hopper vs the Micro Trains ACF center flow hopper). I was wondering which do you like better? How do the Intermountain covered hoppers compare to Micro trains? Thanks in advance for you help, Todd
I have 6 of the MT cars and about 24 of the IM ones, and I like them both. The IM hoppers are some of my favorite rolling stock, they just seem really well done. I'm hoping for another run sometime soon.
As far as I know only the Trinity prototype of the Intermountain model received that scheme, so depending how exacting you are about prototype accuracy the choice is easy. That said, I have one the MTs in a different paint scheme and it's an excellent model, but then again the other IM covered hoppers I have are also very nice.
