What is the heritage of those units? Were they original IC engines? What are the plans for their use?
No, they were some of the huge pool of E9Au units that Morrison and Knudson rebuilt from ex CB&Q locomotives for the BN commuter service in Chicago. BN kept them going for ever and finally retired them. IC picked up a number of them for business train service and CN has kept them going.
Have not heard what Iowa Pacific will do with them. I hope they paint them up to match their orange and brown Pullman Rail Journeys cars. Maybe they will start running excursions using them on some of their lines.
I did glance at their web site, but saw nothing obvious about this event. As they seem to be excursion-passenger oriented, that seems to be most likely use for such a buy. But where....? Hmmm.
Possibly the Eastern Flyer in Oklahoma next year. https://www.easternflyer.com/ https://www.facebook.com/friendsofpassengerrail Chris
