Hey guys I have decided to go DCC on my new layout and in doing so I have also decided to offer trade of my layout which is currently on ebay search word: Ho train layout
My offer for trade will be a complete DCC setup for the layout. I have also added to the auction by offering an Atlas diesel engine and an Atlas power supply. If there is anyone interested you can email me at a2thamayo@wmconnect.com Also in the auction I listed the cost of the stuff and the brands and when I figured the cost out it came up to $600 which is $100 less than my beginning bid on the auction now. Well help me out guys so I can make room in my basement and at the same time save money on the starting of my new layout. If you know of anybody that may be interested let them know about my offer. I am located in Norwich, Ct 06360. Get at me guys!! Thanks
my phone number is 860-961-7294 Contact me anytime and leave message if I do not pick up thanks again

Al, I think you may have trouble finding a "taker" on this deal you've got going. Simply for the reason that if anyone has a complete DCC system then that probably means they have a layout too (except for goofballs like me who bought their DCC system a full year before they started benchwork). And, if they have a layout, why would they want to give up their DCC system?

Add that to the fact that most of us don't have DCC systems just laying around and what do you get?

Just the same, it's a funny world and there might just be someone out looking for a 95% completed layout and looking to get rid of a complete DCC system.

You might think of putting this in the Yellow Forum where you've got your other add running.

Also, if you're interested in just buying a DCC set then there are a lot of good starter sets out there that would suit your needs perfectly (and they're relatively cheap).

Yes, I agree with Hoss. Layouts are typically very difficult to sell. Most of your prospective buyers are modelers themselves and building their own layout is part of the fun. Plus you have the issue of shipping the layout which further complicates things.

DCC systems are getting very affordable. I picked up a Digitrax Zephyr off eBay for $139 and it works beautifully.

    Hoss,
I might be one of the few on the planet who thinks buying a DCC system before the layout is up, is the best way to go. You save yourself the "transition costs" (DC to DCC) and you get to test your system as you lay track. And finally, once track is down you can be running something.

I'm with you Rick. :D Like I said, I bought my Lenz Set 100 in March of last year. Here it is almost a year later and I've yet to hook it up to anything besides a test track. There's actually a long story behind my "delay" but we'll get into that some other time. ;)

I have to own up to being another 'goofball'. I had my NCE system plus a loco fitted with a Soundtraxx decoder up and running (well, rolling actually) before any track was down [IMG]

you would be better off stripping the track off and sellling it as a package rather than selling the layout. nobody really wants to pay shipping for that big of a item.
