Yesterday I stopped by my local hobby shop (Lobo Mountain Trains in Grand Junction, CO) to see what they had new. Well, when I went to the N scale shelves, I couldn't believe my eyes- there, with the other diesels, was a LifeLike E8- in Frisco "racehorse" colors (stop drooling, Charlie )! On the next shelf down was a LL FA1-FB1 set in Frisco black & yellow. Both are out of my modeled time frame (1975-1980), but I'm a model railroader, so I don't get worked up about it. Bottom line- the E8 is in layaway, and unless someone grabs the Alcos, they're next. And yes, I had the owner test-run the E, and it runs just fine. There aren't many diesels out there in Frisco colors, so I'm grateful to the manufacturers for any diesels that come painted for this fine railroad. One question- what passenger cars would y'all recommend for a decent N scale train?

Don't miss the new B30-7 in Frisco from Atlas. They also did the U25B a number of years ago. BLW has Legacy line SW9/1200s, F7A/Bs, and E8s. They look pretty impressive. C.G.
What do think I have on my Christmas list??? They'll go well with my Atlas Frisco caboose... [ 27 September 2001: Message edited by: friscobob ]</p>
Bob- Take it as an omen (as I would) and get them now! It's always great to walk into your hobbyshop and find what you like sitting there Russ Hoffman Valley RR
And now, sitting pretty atop my printer, is Frisco E8 2016, "Citation", awaiting its call to duty on the next outbound "Will Rogers". It's a LifeLike diesel, made in China, and has eight-wheel pickup and power (A1A-A1A, just like the real thing). I test-ran it on the hobby shop layout, and it runs smooth, and sounds nice- no coffee-grinder noises, no jerky movements. The paint and lettering is dead-on, and the race-horse name is correct as well. I need to find myself another one, as Frisco usually ran 'em in pairs (no B units- all the Es were cabbed).
Here is No. 2000 "Fair Play", which is actually an E-7A rebuilt to look like an E-8A. More info available here: http://ok.railfan.net/slsf_e.html Ship IT on the Frisco eNjoy Don B
Like Charlie said! BTW, the 2000 is done is a modified "racehorse" scheme (racehorse light, if you will) in that the lettering and striping are not two-color. It's also the only other E unit scheme I like on Frisco passenger diesels. The red & cigar band and red/white paint jobs are too depressing to think about..... For reference, I cite Marre and Harper's "Frisco Diesel Power", by Interurban Press. Great info on Frisco diesels. Again, great shot!!
