hey Guys, Has anyone ever built a brick or stone kit with Hydrocal walls. I am currently looking at a kit made by CC CROW which has Hydrocal brick walls and was wondering how difficult they are to assemble? I've built and scratch built my share of plastic and wood kits but never made any out of plaster. Any comments will be appreciated!!

Hi Andy. i was hoping for some responses to this but i guess not too many modelers us plaster for kits. i remember seeing something on this in MR back in the 80's i think. i have read about making molds for plaster and pouring your own brick walls for tunnels, and rocks. When u build your kits can u post and tell us how they work?

Hey Railery, I guess not to many have tried plaster kits. I might just have to give it a try and let everyone know. The only thing is that the kit is kind of expensive and I didn't want to waste my money if you can't get good results!!!!!

Hi Andy, maybe u could contact the mfg. of the kit on the internet and ask them about the kit. i'm sure someone works with them. They sound like the ones u can get a craft store. There used for gardens and xmas decorations. [IMG]

Railery, The kit I was looking at is modeled after a great northern warehouse in HO. It is highly detailed and has Grant line windows and doors and a lot of die cast assesories. My main concern is if the walls are cast straight and it will all go together square!!!

If the wall edges are not square u could probably use emery cloth or a fine sand paper to square them up. i'm curious to know who the manufacturer is ?
