How much is left of Conrail? I know they were broke up in 1999, but their website is still there. Do they still have locomotives in Conrail blue or have they all been sold and returned to the lease companys and credit card companys? Did the same happen to the mow equipment and mechicanal trucks and other support equipment and rolling stock?

Well, almost all of Conrail's assets went to the two railroads who acquired it, CSX and NS. So locomotives, MOW equipment, freight cars, facilities and track all now belong to these two railroads.

Conrail still exists, but as a shell of it's former self. It is now known as a "shared-assets" area, owned jointly by CSX and NS, since they couldn't decide back in 1999 who was getting these areas, which are Philly, PA, most of NJ, and Detroit, MI. If you look at the Conrail website, there are small CSX and NS logos on it.

Recently, however, the two owning roads are devising a way to split up these shared areas.

Also, you can still see locomotives in Conrail Blue on both the NS and CSX, but the are constantly getting repainted into those road's schemes, and also have a number patch on the side, displaying the new NS or CSX number.
