Hi all, I wonder how you guys store or display your units. I have in the meantime the "problem" because I have built a dozen kits and therefore no original box to store them like the MTL, Marklin or AZL stuff. What do you do with long units like MAXI III or spine cars? Looking forward to your answers. This is my solution for my Marklin steam stuff (o.k., also 2 diesel and 1 E-Engine at that time...)
I keep mine stored in assorted messed up boxes around the garage, because I have drug addicts hanging around the neighborhood. I keep all my belongings in a visual state of trash, garbage, and disarray so they don't think it is worth any money.
About 60 cars & engines are shown here on the layout. There is room for another 100. No scenery yet at this end, but the other end is pretty well done. ///don
I use Train Boxes Plus (www.trainboxesplus.com/n-scale.htm): The Z is a bit loose but more than enough to transport flat. 3 trays, 3 rows each. It is a wax impregnated cardboard is it is basically water resistant.
I started using a small thin box my computer keyboard came in. Figured I wouldn't have much Z. Now I need more boxes : )
Hey Robert; I just came off one of the worst days i've had at work in a long while, and your post made me laugh so hard that it brought tears to my eye's.... Thanks for realy lighting up my horible day...:tb-cool: Tony B.... Wasatch Z Club
I use a cheap frame for pictures, then i install some strips of wood inside it. Costs under 20 $ this picture is old, i have filled the display up now :tb-biggrin: i need another one :tb-wink:
I use display cases. I'm going to have to start moving the N scale out of the 2nd case to start making room for more CSX Z scale.
I use a couple of cases similar to the ones CSXJoe has for individual cars and engines, but I have some square acrylic tubes that I use to display "trains". They hold 12-15 freight cars or 10 passenger cars.I built a wall rack to hold the tubes.
