17 years and counting! Hi Bob, For as long as I have admired your work, I finally found out how long it took for you to create your never-ending masterpiece---since 1993!!!! I don't feel so bad now because it took me a year to do my 3 by 7 layout. Have a great weekend. Joe 81vette www.scratchbuiltbyjoe.com
Hi Joe. Mind you, I was working away in Europe most of the first 12 years! It's only the last 6 that I have been at home. Mind you, Kathy hardly ever sees me, except after she calls up "Dinner's ready" LOL
Catwhiskers at Highway 138 Here's one of my favorite ATSF moments... Santa Fe lives on in my "California basement"! ... Otto Happily modelling Cajon Pass in N scale circa1950
Otto - Stunning. I checked out your Railimages albums - your layout looks fantastic. Do you have any more pictures to share? I'm really impressed w/ the Devore station house - is it a scratchbuild?
Dave, thanks for your kind comments. The Devore depot is built from scratch, I did an article on building it in Model Railroader back in June '98. Here's another pic, "F-units meet at Devore", very Santa Fe I think... Regards, Otto Modeling Cajon Pass in N scale, circa 1950
I'll Chip in This is from November of last year. My 4-8-4 #3773 pulling a long string of refers and other box cars on the Peninsula NTrak layout in Pleasnton CA. While this is the only useable shot, the train was pulling almost 80 cars. You just have to have a soft spot for those steel refers!
It's incredible that this topic is still going. I had to look back and see that I last posted to this in September of 2005 - and those pictures are no longer available. So here's a more recent shot. Nothing special, just a lone GP35 shoving a coal hopper:
I have this same loco! It's a nice addition to go with all my WP stuff. How did you do the sky? It looks sweet!
