    OK. A quick geo-political lesson for those who are not aware of what the United Kingdom is:-
    The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to give it its Sunday name, is made up of England, Scotland and Wales (these 3 countries make up Great Britain) and Northern Ireland to make up the UK. Please do NOT ever refer to Scotland as being in "England" (this will sureley upset the nationalists).
    Standard Gauge (4' 8½" - 1435mm) is used throughout Great Britain and most of Europe. Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland run on 5' 3" - 1600mm. Exceptions in Europe include Spain and Portugal (1668mm - 5' 6½") and many East European countries, formerly under Soviet rule.
