I just finished a highway bridge to cross my yard lead. I wanted to model a bridge to looked like one I had seen crossing the south end of BN's (now BNSF) Northtown yard in Minneapolis. I model in HO but I used two Walthers N scale double track bridges that I widened with Plastruct 1/4" styrene trusses and Evergreen styrene for the road. The pier was also made from Evergreen styrene. The bridge is not exact because if I had encased the lower parts of the side trusses in concrete and raised the level of the roadway like the prototype, then the N scale bridge would have been too low for semi trailers. So I had to make it the way I did with the road at the same level as the side trusses. I think it came close enough. I'm happy with it.
Very nice bridge! You captured the look of the prototype very well. I especially like the weathering job on the concrete support.
That's the ONLY think that matters. Remember, if you ain'd doing for you, then it's not a hobby. That said, you did one heck of a job on it. Definatly looks like the real thing!
Very nice bridge! Bet that would work as a "hole hider" at the end of a scene. And with that weathering, you've really got a winner! [ 20. April 2003, 05:26: Message edited by: friscobob ]
Thanks. It is acting as a hole hider right now. Where the bridge meets the back drop there is a track that hides behind some buildings for a staging track. The bridge blocks the view of the end of the building. I am building the building right now and I will post the scene images when I am finished.
