Building 1/87 scale model railroad layout based on the junctions and railroad yards in Texarkana Tx, for the Union Pacific and Kansas City Southern Raillroads, anyone out there with info on interchange operations and local freights?
Good to have you with us. You may have a better chance of success if you also post your question to the UP and KCS forums inthe Ready Track. Good luck on your research, and sorry I can't help.
OK update - did a little digging and I can find some pictures of Texas and Pacific mixed freights on both sides of the TX/AR border. Tank cars, covered hopper, a couple of auto racks and some TOFC. Hope this helps a little...
When I rode through Texarkana on the Amtrak Texas Eagle in 1996, I shot pics from the train of a creotoe-treating plant on the Texas side. I assume you know all about it is iot is still there. http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/541/txrk_gon.jpg http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/541/txrk_rtort.jpg http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/541/txrk_stax.jpg http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/541/txrk_tanks.jpg http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/541/txrk_tram.jpg I was going to try to pawn off some of the stuff from my dismantled East Texas Piney Woods layout on you but I see you are in HO and my layout was in N. Anyway, happy modeling.
Welcome! Well, I'm a regular Amtrak Eagle patron myself although I'm not sure that's too much help outside of perhaps pics of the yard tower. What era? I expect you will find a wealth of info from the web though. I know a couple of KCS guys that might be helpful if you have specific questions.
