Now that I'm enjoying watching our 30-month old grandson grow up, I'm starting to use a small LGB setup which I bought for our son almost 40 years ago - he was never too interested in it! With (by US standards) only a small amount of space, I thought I'd try to do a mix of some freight and city trams (trying a Lilliput model). Also of interest to me (as an ex-IT person) is trying to get an Arduino-based DCC++ set-up going - although, as well, this will involve working out how to dismantle and add a suitable decoder into the engines, plus understanding some electronics that was never part of my education! So I expect I'll soon be asking for lots of pointers and advice! Meanwhile, is there anyone nearby with an interest in G-scale? Bye for now. Les
Welcome to the best train oriented website for help and encouragement. I can't really help much as I live a LONG way away and the only G scale train I have is simple DC Christmas time set. I have dabbled in DCC and am starting to get into Raspberry Pi. That being said, there are a lot of people here who can and will help with ALL of your questions and have interest and knowledge of all your concerns. Welcome again. John
Welcome to Trainboard! Pictures of your work, as it progresses, (as they always are), will be interesting!
Welcome aboard, Les! Are there any hobby stores nearby where you could look for folks with similar interests? As to the rest, there are a good number of folks here with similar interests who should be able to offer assistance and inspiration.
Hi Les, Welcome. We're happy that you have come on board. As far as G and DCC++, there are a bunch of folks here who can help, both in the G Forum and the Electronics Forum. Also, if what's left of my memory serves me, there are some G-Scalers on your side of the pond. I don't know how far/near they may be to you, but I'm sure they'll chime in.
Welcome a board. You'll find everyone here on TB friendly and informative. Like others have said those pictures of your work and G Scake railroad will be enjoyed.
Thanks to all for the welcome. It will be some time before there are any photos, I'm afraid. My priorities are to understand DCC (1st post about to go to that board...) & hopefully convert a couple of trams, and maybe also to get to grips with Arduino control of points/turnouts. Layout design will probably just be rough paper ideas until next spring. ( I can't see the obvious way to copy this to everyone who welcomed me - I hope they all get to read it!) Best regards, Les
Les, when you post on, or reply to any thread, everybody can read it. All forums are open to all. Though as you indicated, if you wish to narrow your question to a specific experience base. then post to the forum that concentrates on that subject.
