Seems like a waste to get rid of the layout you just bought, but if you insist on having a bigger one....and if it were me.....I'd start from scratch and build my own. Part of the fun for me is coming up with a track plan and actually building the thing from the ground up. That's just me though.
Well, I tell ya, at my age you got to watch the wife like a Hawk! If I sit too long thinking or trying to figure something out in my head, she gets nervous. One time I was deep in thought when suddenly I discovered a guy was measuring me for a casket! Its not that she is anxious, you see, its just that she like to be prepared for things in advance. I think that is why she called and ordered the burial plot the afternoon we were married. I'm working as fast as I can to get the new layout up and running before the come by for a fitting for my shroud. Sheesh!
Alot of people may not know what you meant by shroud, but working in the ER I know exactly what that is. Funny thing is the shroud kits are one size fits all. lol A shroud is the body bag. Anyway as for my layout, I am really leaning towards selling my hard work or burning it because, I went downstairs tonight and took a real real hard look at what can be done, and to do what I need to do, will be very difficul because I do not know anything about track laying, and wiring. I will be los, but not only that I will have alot of rearranging to get it right. I would have to remove track, and buildings. I mean it would detail stuff I do not want to do unless I was to start from scratch. I get very depressed when I think of running a train. I have not tested any trains on my layout since the day I bought it. I have not even been trained long enough to learn the track switches, biggest thing is the inner, outter track switching with that polarity stuff too. I feel like I should just build it and blow it up. Well I fel crappy now, so I will end this now
Big Al, I find it interesting that you feel you can sell a layout. I have a very nice switching layout, with a turntable, etc. Very little use. I have not been able to get anybody interested in it. I know I would have the same problem with my 3 X 6" layout. How do you sell them??
Yes as Hoss stated ebay is one way to go, but I sell so many Acura Legend parts on many websites, and forums that everyone knows of my layout too. As you seen in one of my legend auctions I had a picture and I got many emails. I was like nope I am not selling it, but I will now really think of doing so. I am only in about $800-1000 so far minus my rolling stock. I will probably sell it for hmm I have to charge for my time so I think $1100 will get me started on the next project.
