Ok, so I'm still running DC..... I have a control master 20 that I'm trying to install into my layout. I put a phone jack and extension of about 3 feet on the front of the layout for the coiled chord to plug into and its a no go... So here is what I've tried. I measured the resistance, about 0.5 ohms for the new wiring, about 5.0 for the MRC supplied 15 ft chord. I plugged a 25 ft phone cord into the power supply and to the hand controller, it worked no problems. I tested the wiring I was using for the extension and no problems. I've even tried a newer 7 ft chord going from the extension outlet to the hand unit and no go.... Any assistance would be great.
Bass-ackward wiring I too am using a Controlmaster 20 for my around the wall layout. I have three telephone jack sockets for the controller to plug into at the three towns where switching takes place. When I wired the first plug it was also a "no-go". I had wired red-to-red, black-to-black, etc. Strange things happened and I had no control. I then "reverse wired" the plug to the socket. Believe it runs r-b-w-bl-y-g, so I wired r to g, y t0 b, bl to w, w to bl, etc. And everything worked! :embarassed: Still enjoy watching the train move along slowly while I switch sockets. Still lack 6 feet of bridge to finish the main line as a continuous loop. :shade:
EUREKA!!!! I never would have thought of that!! Now that I look at the wiring layout I see why. My balding head thanks you much Thirdrail.
