Okay, just got the Raspberry Pi 3 today, got it up and running, installed JMRI, attached the NCE command station, and it almost works! When I try to add a new loco (on the programming track) and have it read decoder type on either page or direct, it responds with zeros. If I tell it to read after manually entering manuf and type, get repeated errors 301 on read, but it gets loco address. On read, the NCE status light flickers for several seconds after getting manuf 0 and ver 0.

If I use the command station function, it correctly finds command station clock info.

Command Station baud rate is set at 9600, and JMRI shows grayed out 9600 and Eprom of 2006 or later. My laptop (currently in shop for bad hard drive) worked fine last week with same cable and command station settings.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi John -

Congrats on getting as far as you have! If no one here on TrainBoard provides answers for you, I highly recommend both the NCE-DCC and JMRIUsers groups on Yahoo. On either group you will get advice straight from the JMRI developers. You can't do better than that.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jeff. I posted on both groups, we'll see!

I had a lot of problems using a 2303 based converter with the stock drivers in the latest Pi images. I found that an FTDI based converter was much more reliable with my Pi 3 and NCE Powerhouse Pro.

Thanks, Jason. I'm in a dialogue with Dave Heap of JMRI on NCE-DCC Yahoo group and will mention this to him. Meantime may check on replacing converter.

    Much appreciated.

I saw those messages pop up in my email from the Yahoo group, but I hadn't had a chance to read any of them yet.
