Help - Kato SD40-2 shell removal

Has anyone removed the shell of the mid-production Kato SD40-2? Someone suggested that I grab the fuel tank and pull/wiggle the shell and off it comes.

Well, I gave it a shot and failed. I didn't want to pull any harder for fear of breaking something. I've installed decoders in other Katos before but this one is a bear.

Am I doing this right given the new assembly method that Kato is using with this run?

    HELP!

So Steve, how hard do you pull? And where do you grab the shell? Mid point? Front end? Back end?

My copy won't budge. Maybe I'm too timid to really give it a yank. :)

    Tony,

SD40-2. Hmmm...don't know why I put RS2 in the title! Must be a Freudian slip. :)

how hard ? hard enough so the shell comes off ;)

one hand on the fuel tank, the other hand on the dynamic brake, thumb on one side, forefinger on the other side, now pull and wiggle and the shell comes off, most of the time first on the back, if the sill aparts from the long hood shell no problem, you can push them together easily...
