Fellow trainboard member Jason Willett brought out his two heavily weather Rio Grande SD50's today while Flash Blackman and myself wathced in awe. These two units look excellent and as Flash said "man you can imagine these units coming out of the snow sheds like this" Here are pics of the units, I was s impressed I'm hoping to have Jason out this weekend to do a couple for me. AWESOME !!!!! SP used the DRGW SD50's as helpers on Tehachapi, and this is EXACTLY how they looked after running through those tunnels countless times. They would get so black that you couldn't tell if it was a Rio Grande paint job or an SP repaint. Your units look GREAT!!! Kinda make those tunnel motors look too clean now, eh? Dave
Wow! Almost too dirty to look at home in the Tunnel district west of Denver, but mighty fine lookin' at any rate!
Thanks Hemi, would you believe these two units were my first & second paint jobs, then I wrecked them by going over board with the weathering, but then again I have found photo's nearly as dirty as these! Here's another old fav., This was the sort of lite weathering was trying to get on Pauls SD50's oh well keep trying.
Yes, it looks very 'SP" style.... That 90MAC is sweet! I did a number of 80/90's in various BN schemes...
