Tis that time of the year! For the first time, I am going to put all my Hallmark ornaments on the tree! It's not a huge amount but still cool. What are the rest of you doing to add some trains to your Christmas season? Here's a look. Will try and get a pic once on the tree too.
Oh Man, what a beautiful collection. But I don't see the only one that I have and "most important" for Jim (Fitz) and me, a NYC J-3 Class Hudson. OK, I'm just pulling your chain. But Jim and I are Eastern road freaks. Give us a break.
I have at least one, perhaps two. Those Lionel are sooo tempting. And there are some M&St.L as well.... Glad I don't have money in the budget for these right now!
I have every one since 2010 (M-10000 year). I have the full-size ones on the real tree, and the micro ones go on a smaller desktop tree that I have. The Madison heavyweight and the boxcar that came with the Chessie locomotive are both super heavy. That is my only critique of the Hallmark ornaments; their weight. You can only hang them on the thickest branches because they are these huge diecast pieces of metal. Otherwise the branches hang low and the ornaments fall off. I have one or two from before 2010, but I was not a religious collector back then, so the series in incomplete before that year. They are all up on the tree, so maybe I can post when the Christmas decorations get taken down.
I got this in 2004 and added Micro Train trucks/couplers to it recently. I run it with the Kato set....
Here is my lineup including the 2020 series. We finally got the decorations taken down this past weekend, so I got a roster shot of all the Hallmark ornaments before they got boxed up. I need to get a few back issues, I’m missing 2011 and 2012, and it would be cool to get everything before 2010 too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's really cool Trainiac. Hallmark did amazingly well in capturing the Lionel legacy of these ornaments.
I finally cried "Uncle" this year and said, "No more." I have run out of room on my dedicated Hallmark train tree. This photo is from 2011 so I have a lot more now. But it gets to a point that I just want to run trains around the base instead of trying to hang ornaments. Hank, the tree topper is a gold NYC Hudson.
I got the full set starting back in 1996, most have never been out of the boxes, much less ever on a tree.
I had collected dozens it seems. Took a few of my favorites and set them aside for myself and divided the remaining up amongst the kids in our neighborhood.
