Wow, it sure looks more busy then today's railroad. Where is the Honda plant in relation to this picture?
Great photo, Roger. Certainly a much simpler time where the water tower and coaling station are the tallest structures in town. It appears that there are two different rail lines, one going straight away from the camera, and the other curving off to the left. The line on the left does not appear to have come from the line going straight, as if they were a competing lines. What is(are) the railroad(s)?
I imagine that the skyline has changed drastically in 107 years, Roger. I know this is not related to the subject, but the SP 4449 was in Indiana briefly last night, and I am pretty sure on former New York Central tracks. :tb-biggrin: Keep this great history coming.
Of course she was on the Water Level Route. Where else would a magnificent 4-8-4 run recreating the memory of our gorgeous Niagaras. :tb-cool:
The curved portion is the Big Four Michigan Division whereas the straight track is the Big Four line from Indianapolis to Cincy.
Boy, the demolition and construction sure made the area look better, at least from this vantage point. Also, I see they built a second water tank, I guess that indicates increased traffic.
