now this one is hard..... first i thought of mexico city. but after google-mapping for hours i still couldn't find it. any hints ?
Well I've spent some time looking at Brazil, but I didn't find it. The shadows seem to be slightly southward, but not much. That is, they suggest near the equator or a bit south of it. No electrification in the yard. A big city: domed arena, race track. Fairly prosperous looking; big buildings. Can't tell what side the traffic is on.
on the big picture you'll find a building with a strange rooftop. looks like a huge fan. it is on the bottom, just left of the stadium (or whatever this is) i tried to google for 'fancy rooftops' but could not find what i hoped to.
Looks like a firebell to me. If you have the answer, post it... I should also mention that TrainBoard Administrator okane did solve this one within moments of me posting it but he didn't want to end the contest too quickly. Charlie
I thought of India when I saw the pic but couldn't find it there. I thought I did see electrification too???
I found it too, but since Owen and Mike already submitted their answers, I'm not going to announce it either. If I'm not mistaken, it has the same name as a TV actress... I've been to late to all the challenges this week. I guess I need to quit working... Ron
Hehe, very well then... since a few people have located it but aren't sharing, the answer is: Santiago, Chile http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...70.668182&spn=0.031362,0.057163&t=k&z=14&om=1 -Mike
Congratulations SLSF Freak Santiago, Chile When people know the answer they should post it, unless there are extenuating circumstances as to why they shouldn't. I also think others would appreciate it is winners would give clues as to how they deduced the answer.
Dang! I looked at Brazil... and I looked at Lima Peru last night too. I thought I DID look at Santiago, too, but maybe I was just thinking about it when I decided to stop... When I brought it up just now I realized there was no way I'd have missed it if I'd looked at the city. Someone else deserved to get one though.
This one was brute force research... unfortunately trees, shadows, architecture, topography etc just wasn't coughing it up, but I knew that silver dome and track area was unique. A couple key words in a google search popped up just what I was looking for on the fourth hit. A funny tangent, I was looking at that mess of blue busses to the west of the train yard figuring it would be an easy search to see what cities use blue busses - Santiago never came up. -Mike
