For those who wanted to see the E27 run, here is a short video testing its ability to creep. Not many crawl along like this!

It does! It's a shame it makes rather a lot of noise at higher speeds; I need to change the motor, install a drive shaft and universals in place of that rubber tubing - thing they've got there, and check (and replace, if I must) the gearbox. I reeeally hope I don't HAVE to replace the gearbox, as I hate to disassemble a mechanism that works so well, even if I am relatively sure I can get it back together ok!

NWSL is going to be making some money off me, I fear.

Not to hijack your discussion, but I am eyeing a steam loco as a rebuild and my object of desire is an old 60's 4-4-0. I know I can't make it worse. :p

Never hijacking any of my threads to talk steam! I say go for it; that first steam rebuild / kitbash teaches so much, and you do get a wonderful loco to run and enjoy at the end! Is it a brass loco, or?

    You asked for it!

I am doing the scale that was proposed a while back as an alternative to On30., which is 55n3. I have been posting my adventures in the narrow gauge what's on your workbench section. It was tempting to go 1/35th and have 2" narrow gage since both scales are all about using HO mechs and track to make other scales. My whole objective is just to do some home made items. Everything is scratch built with what is at hand to medium standards as I am no expert.

I have a stand in for a gas loco. I just want one steam engine for a 1890's look. I have some other HO steam , but I do not want to cut it up to make models. Like the Rivarossi DR. 0-8-8-0 and the Life Like USRA 0-8-0. I also have some british OO steam, a lima and a hornby 2-6-4. And a french HO 4-8-2. I will have to get some shots of it all. My collection is somewhat eclectic.

Oh yeah, I also have a 50's lionel hudson and a American Flyer Atlantic. And a n N scale 2-10-0 by minitrix.

Can't forget the 1960's lego train set. I have that one still too. Technically, it's steam. :p

An even more off beat plan is to build many small layouts, one for each scale, in my garden shed... uh... errr.. model train room. ;)

I was deep into N scale back in 2008 then got laid off sold thousands of dollars of trains at about 25% of its value. i was gonna do HO scale european in the garden. A big thread on that here: https://www.oogardenrailway.co.uk/index.php?/topic/171-my-cobbled-together-layout/&

Anyway, you can see my builds in this thread: http://www.trainboard.com/highball/...ow-gauge-whats-on-your-workbench.68159/page-8

Right now I am shopping for a really trashed 4-4-0 to turn into something odd from the 1890's.

That sounds amazing! You know, I have room in my garden for a 10 x 12 shed... and I have always wanted a Great Western layout... *ahem*

Homemade locos are the best things ever, and narrow gauge modelers in particular have my utmost admiration. You guys have to scratch or kitbash virtually everything! Do you have a particular chassis in mind to modify?

Once I saw how the Brits deal with space issues by either building in a shed or mixing it up with mainlines outside the shed I was a complete convert.

You could put your main yard area in the shed down one wall and then extend your mainline out. A shed can be really darned cozy too:

I want to get a variety of 4-4-0 Locos. The old Tyco Mantua ones have spoked pilot wheels, yet the Pocher model has more detail in the form of actual brass parts. I am waiting to get some of these models as basket case junkers and then combine them into a hybrid. It also needs a taller cab. It should be an easy starter mod, as all I really need to do is some superficial stuff.
