Should make a few people happy though Tried registering for the Atlas forum, but it seems like it doesn't like me tonight. Guess the word will get out soon enough.
Proto 1000, 2000 are usually associated with HO scale. But those catalog numbers sure look like N scale. Where are the SP&S C424s? Boxcab E50
Yes.....it is N Scale and it is for the USA. As to why they were released under the Proto 2000 banner and it's implications for their N Scale releases I don't know. It's just what the order sheet says. As for other roadnames.....it would be unlike LL to not announce more runs. They have a habit of milking paint schemes out of each body style. I know my Dad's sweating on a few New Haven Alco's. [ 07. June 2003, 02:58: Message edited by: James Costello ]
I'd actually like to see Life Like do some modern EMD and compare it with the Kato and Atlas releases. One of my favorite locos is still the life like GP 20's
Is it my aging memory, or do I recall mention last year that LL might be doing SD45's in N scale? Boxcab E50
Well, if it is the boys from Philly, two thoughts: 1) Let us hope they make a long awaited quantum leap in their diesel quality. 2) SD45- Northern Pacific. Milwaukee Road PRE-BILLBOARD!!!! (I wish the manufacturers of Milw diesels would get off this idea!) Boxcab E50
Let's hope that Bachmann at least comes up to Lifelike's quality with their SD45. They've been doing good lately with their steam et al and would like to see them continue in this manner. I owned 2 of the original Bachmann SD-45's and it was pretty good quality (For 1980 anyway) though it took off like a rocket on speed. Remember the blinking srobe light on top of some of these early Bachmanns? (I think the SD40-2) Russ
Because of Life Like Canada, I am speculating that LL isn't doing much Canadian stuff. So don't give up hope, just focus in on Life Like Canada instead.
Russ- Yes. It was the Bachmann. I recall those units very well. Circa 1980-1981? Watched more than a few melt. At least one catch fire...... Boxcab E50
Great news! I hope they match and/or exceed the quality of their GP20's. I also hope that the shell will sit lower on the chassis than their previous Canadian Alco release. I saw one of those up close the other day - yikes, it had an unsightly gap A pair of those N&W units will look nice on my layout...
Time to get out the Microscale sheet and the eraser for the B&O switchers. The NYCs already have the correct numbers. The P&LE did not have these, so no Pacemaker Green for these. While certain models of NYC diseasels frequently ran on the P&LE, I doubt that too many of these ran on the P&LE, but I will probably buy some anyway. Speaking of the P&LE, I wonder if there is a way to put 'P&LE' under the red Central herald that they let you choose on this list.
i would love an SD45! and if bachmann did one i would get one, depending on the quality hopefully it wouldnt cost too much
Word on the Bachmann board awhile back was that an SD45 was in the works. Their recent leap in quality has been amazing. I think they are now very serious about their Nscale line. (Check out the 2-8-0s) I am now a big Bachmann fan!!! Hey Ken, I got about 9 of those SD40-2s (both models...with the blinking strobe light and without), and haven't had to call the fire dept. yet!
