Harald just send me pictures of his new Husky, and the look great. I specially like the containers. They look like they have crips printing and lots of detail.

    Hi John,

Container are great, have a bunch (of undecorated ones) on my desk. Only one disadvantage: only compatible to Marklin Container, not MTL. Harald explained to me because he has made so far all his Container as per "Marklin" standard he is continueing this philosophie.

look great. But our worthless dollar will make them even less affordable. :(

He should outsource to America, so we can buy them and the Europeans can buy them at half price, further increasing his margins due to quantities.

Lovely cars and containers. One observation though, shouldn't the cars be marked "53" and not "56"?

No, the cars are actually 56' footers! And the TTX will be the Ztrack subscriber car for 2008. We will have 2 version. One with a Canadian Tire red container and Crowley container. The 2nd version will have a Canadian Tire red container and a CN container. We will be accepting order very soon.

    56' Husky 2+2's

In 1993, Gunderson designed a 56' well car dubbed the "Husky 2+2". These were made to carry 4 of the UPS 28' shipping containers. GBRX purchased one for their fleet of wellcars to try out.

    Wasn't till 1995 that TTX started purchasing these "Husky 2+2" well cars. 60 in 1995, 28 in 1996, and 13 in 1997. 101 total.

So, in all, Gunderson built 102 of these "Husky 2+2" wellcars. Perhaps in the beginning did they see massive UPS traffic from place to place, but now a days these wellcars see more typical containers filling their wells. 20's, 40's, 48's, and 53's.

If you are more curious, you can look up photos of these well cars on Railroad Archive websites. Look for TTX in the roadnumbers of DTTX 560000 thru DTTX 560100.

    Hope this info helps!

I think these are great looking wellcars. Think a few will look great hauling some scratchbuilt 28' containers, on my layouts!!!!

Tim, thats for the history! I hadn't notice or realized what the Husky 2+2's were.

Rob, this is great news (for me at least, the Mrs. won't think so). They should look real nice behind that BNSF heritage unit the wife is getting me for my B-Day.

Where are the 56' well cars usually seen? With only 102 of them, there can't be too mnay in many places. I've only ever seen one.

Same here John! I just ordered a bunch of full throttle Conrail stuff. Looks like I'll be placing another order too.
