Hi to all on this fórum: My name is Alvaro, I´m from Portugal and I´m retired from a civil airliner in Portugal as a pilot. Although all my life I´ve been flying across all the world, my heart was always in my H0 scale trains. Every time I took a few days of rest, I worked in my trains. So my friends, after my retirement with 55 until now, 61 I decided to go on with my trains, sold all my European trains, and begun with the trains that always fascinated me: American trains! Now I´m running a repair train shop, and I´m oficial repair trains shop from Fleischmann/Roco, and I also have made a lot of repairs in Athearn, Broadway; Atlas and so on...! Well I hope to help someone who run European trains, and have also some help when I have troubles running my American models. A big hugh from all, from Portugal. Alvaro
Hi Alvaro, Welcome to the TrainBoard, glad to have you on board. I may be mistaken, but I believe you are the first Portuguese member on the TrainBoard, which would expand our international membership happily. I am sure there are a few TrainBoard members who may model European trains and would enjoy sharing your knowledge. We would enjoy seeing photographs of your layout and operation.
Thank you all of you. Really I´m not the first European member. You have also luis_lopes, that is from Lisbon. I´m living 6 km north of Porto, the town of Porto Wine, a very good and nice region. I´m glad that I can help anyone that in USA is modelling European trains. At this time, I´m rebuilding my layout, but there are three main railroads I love: BN, NS and UP. I have a range of locos that I havn´t see yet running... believe me? Any problem with any kind of Fleischmann/Roco any member could have, I´m here to help. Thank you for all and I came to your fórum due to a search in Google about na old Fleischmann loco... really strange, isn´t it? Cheers, Alvaro
Most of our new members come to us via references of friends, or searching on Google. You are quite correct, we do have several members from Portugal. We have them also from France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Norway, Denmark, Slovenia (he is a long time moderator here), the late Wolfgang Dudler of Germany was a long time TrainBoard moderator, plus a moderator in the UK and many others from there. There are folks from all around the globe signed on here.
Alvaro, we're definately glad to expand our presence in Europe. Sounds like you have a very interesting second career going, best of luck with your business. As for the running, there are lots of us with large rosters that sit idle for long periods, so you have good company on that!
Here is one of many topics by another fellow from Portugal: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine...nce-Vehicle-with-Crane-Kibri-16100&highlight= He seems to always have some very interesting project ongoing.
Hi: No I have been flying for an extinguished company named Air Luxor, as a flight engineer. Regards, Alvaro
