Well as stated in my old layout post i have reconfigured the benchwork to give me a 2 ft wide roughly 45 ft main line run. I went with a point to point. I will reuse track that is still flexible, but the main line will be all new track. Hidden staging at both ends with a yard in the middle where locals will be made up to service the Stillwater division industries. Here is this weekend's progress. At this end is Stillwater industrial park. There are 6 railroad customers at this location. I will eventually put in some other businesses that are not rail served, just to make the scene fuller. The cardboard is a mockup for the divider in front of the 3 staging tracks. Last picture shows the scene from the other direction. View attachment 69987
Just curious about your staging yard, trying to get a better feeling for capability. How many cars/length of tracks?
This end is short at 5ft. So not so long trains. The other end can be longer so i can have longer trains coming from the opposite direction dropping off more cars at the yard than it picks up to continue on to the shorter staging. I just didn't want to go much longer because the length run from staging to the yard would be very short. Thanks
That's a great track plan. Refreshing to see a point to point instead of the usual continuous round and round. Just wish I had the space for a 45ft run.
Its been a while since i posted any progress. But i have gotten a little work done. Stillwater industrial park with hidden staging behind it. View block is removable for cleaning. Main line leaving east staging. 2 industries before main line curves around to the peninsula. On the peninsula there are 2 more industries before the curve to the other side of the peninsula.
After the curve around front of peninsula the E street yard begins. There are 2 A/D tracks. A stub yard with lead to make up and break down locals. This is as far as i got. Last photo is a ruff track plan not to exact scale . Thanks for looking.
The finish you got on that blue building does a wonderful job of showing the gritty nature of the work.
It has been awile since my last update. Hope everyone is good. Work has been slow. But some progress on my peninsula. River is in and rock cuts are carved.
