Finished the last Bandai B Train tank cars and mounted the new bulktainers on the flats. That gives me four small containers for the vessel. Unless I spot something that really blows my dress up these are the last cars. Still eyeing some different fishing boats and that set of forklifts that just may relegate the Kato stacker to the sawmill. This puts finish to this thread as I start work on the additions to my maritime fleet. The hull is seen in back already with its' 2nd coat of paint. That is MEC green on the hull. Behind the tank cars is the deck and part of the superstructure as I figure out where the structure will be shortened and where I am going to mount the deck crane or cranes. Testing some containers on the deck and it will take 3 wide for these type and possibly 4 wide for the 20 footers. Like the earliest ships this one will only stack them two high. Also looking for a N scale or close Higgens boat or small landing craft to mount on the rear (fantail for you nautical types) for delivery to some of the islands in the chain. 000_0031-1 by John Moore posted May 4, 2016 at 4:08 PM
I just got my shapeways order of a CNJ 1000 boxcab. It is in the new FXD material and came out very nice. Almost as smooth as injection molded. The cool part is it was made for the Bandai #3 chassis. You might be interested. I was very impressed. It even has the holes molded in got the grab rails and other details. Trey
I have seen quite a few remarkable items come off Shapeways in the last couple of years. But I am going to hold the line when it comes to new motive power having downsized severely recently. I'm down to the small power I want but even there now at 24 locos on the roster I still have more than I need. After wasting about two hours on the www. wasteland I may look there for my Higgens boat.
I'd forgotten that Higgins made landing craft in addition to their line of PT Boats. Here's a link to the Higgins LCVP plans in case you want to scratch build it in your spare time.
Spare time. What is that? In between serving as chief packer for the move, the personal valet to His Royal Highness, the King, aka the Big Guy, aka Wesa, referee to numerous Felines scampering through the house getting into who knows what, and serving as chief chef and bottle washer, doing the laundry, the King must have absolutely clean items to sleep on, and serving as the main financial source for dentists, doctors, the lab, and the auto mechanic. I forgot to mention also chief operator of the pooper scooper for the Kings royal litter box. In fact the King just strolled into the room and announced it is time for his mid day stroll outside with me serving as the royal body guard.
