OK, we haven't done flatcars yet, so let's try it. I'll start with a great find in Fountain this afternoon. Pics in order of appearance in the train: And do any of these look familiar to Alan's customers?
Found in DRGW North Yard. Not the best, but was NOT about to try and get a bit closer: Old BN flat with work equipment of sorts: Variety of flats, holding remains of a PSCX coal train that derailed:
Katrina dumped 7' of water into our local power plant's switch and transformer yard, and also onto the generator floor, but that's another story. KCS delivered a replacement transformer and allowed the power company to block the main for 12 hours as they unloaded the 200 ton flat car. Unfortunately, Katrina also had done a number on the 5 mile spur that serves the plant, so as a good neighbor, what choice did KCS have.....?
SP513716 as a bridge across a small dry wash (that empties into Salado Creek). Still in use today with some low rails along the edge to keep UP maintenance vehicles from going over the side. This is in Kirby Yard, San Antonio, Texas. Nice line of corn syrup in the back ground!
37-foot Flatcar Central Vermont 7625 Built between 1923 and 1925. Arrived at the Danbury Railway Museum September 25, 1998.
A few flats, converted to bridges: Think this MIGHT be a former UP car. No reporting marks to ID. Double wide bridge, from 2 different flat cars. The first is DRGW AX22051. The other is DODX 221024 And finally, is BN 862145 All were found crossing the creek, a few miles south of BlackHawk, Colorado, on Hwy 119. The ex? UP car found about 3 miles west of Pinecliff, Colorado. Part of a private drive to 3-4 homes along the river.
Good Picture !!! I have a flat bed (GREAT NORTHERN) with 2 INTERNATIONAL M's on it. Of course, it is HO scale. I don't even care for FARMALLS, but the color is appealing.
Thanks Stanford, and welcome to the Trainboard! Here is another view. Its Black River & Northern. I thought they looked pretty neat too.
