This past weekend, the fishing season opened in Concord County in Illinois. These two fishermen were seen out on the Illinois River. When they put in, they revealed that under the railroad bridge is a perfect spot for catching catfish. Seems the catfish enjoy the rumbles of freight trains as well. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. Hey Rev., Looks like those fisherman may be following Columbus, if they go to far under the bridge they will come to the end of the world!!!!!!!
Sure, I was informed that the catfish fry will be next friday, at 5 pm...byot (Bring your own throttle). LOL Jeff
Applause for your fishing photo. Where did you find the boat motor? Did it come with the boat or was it separately purchased? I'm working on a large lake for my N layout and will have a dock as well as a few boats on the water. I have boats, but haven't found motors. Also: how did you make your river? Thanks.
The boat is from Nu-Comp. As far as the fishermen, they are from Prieser. The motor is scratch built. I simply took some layers of styrene, and carved them into the shape of a motor. Painted white with a little red on it, and it looks good. The river base is a sheet of plywood. Then I used a thin layer of plaster that was spread by hand. Little effort was made to get it smooth. In fact, the swirls are from the plaster. Then it was painted with acrylics from the craft store. No pattern, just started with a sandy color along the shore and darker grey paint in the deeper sections. Then while the paint was still wet, I smeared them together fingerpaint style. The water surface is several layers of "Mod Podge," a high gloss acrylic coating made for crafts. It's applied with a brush. I let each coat dry thoroughly. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. I don't know about that grilled catfish- bread mine in corn meal, deep-fry it with some potatoes & hush puppies, gimme a big glass of iced tea to wash it down, and I'm a happy guy!
Oops, sorry....got so caught up (no pun intended) in the fried catfish reference that I forgot to comment about the fishermen!!! Nice work, Jeff....a truly great scene!!!
