Well my fellow freelancers, I've finally got trains running on the Paris & Mt. Pleasant RR. I was flummoxed by the Peco turnouts I was using, what with shorts happening every time I flipped 'em to the diverging route. Once I figured out where to put the insulated rail joiners, the rest became easy. I've got some sidings in, but they're not wired yet. Meanwhile, I'm having fun running trains and letting my diesels stretch their legs. The switcher looks good pulling a cut of woodracks, too.
Well...this is great news!! Congratulations my friend, I know this has been a long time in coming. I was so happy with my first runs of the SFSW...but then she had to be torn out for my wife's #$%#@@!! car. Anyway maybe I'll get up there to see the layout one of these days. Seems silly to live this close to each other and not make personal contact! John
Congrats on the first running of rains on the Black Prairie Line. Watching that first train make it's way across the layout is almost as much fun as watching your baby take her first steps....maybe more! Jeff
John, I've noticed that, too. Gonna have to set up a time for a meeting when the weather warms up a mite. There is, of course, our annual swap meet at Cross Orchards on March 16 (that layout will be open as well). By that time, I should have more of the layout (i.e. sidings and spurs) running. Jeff, I've got four kids, and the thrill of watching each one take his/her first steps never wore off. Version 2.0 of the Paris & Mt. Pleasant, now that it's running, is more exciting. The first run fires up the excitement level, and can spur one to work on the layout. I've got some of the track painted, weathered, and ballasted (also weeded-up, since I'm not exactly running the Union Pacific here ). With that little bit of scenery, I can see how things will turn out. Go to Cyberspace Flagstop for more info on the P&MtP [ 15 February 2002, 18:22: Message edited by: friscobob ]
