drove the Jeep up to the farm to check out progress...
A couple of photo's of my first attempt at scenic work. It was quite fun, and instantly learned what works and doesn't.
What! that's HO scale! I know, I know, it's my 4 x 8 Woodland Scenic project that I work on, and experiment on, when I'm at a stalll on my N scale 'empire'.
Next learning project is doing the white water stream. Glossy matte acrylic (?) or resin (eviro-something, I think it's called)
ps - what is acceptable image size to post?

Looks good and more importantly your confidence level is boosted. Many of us in the model RR land can relate to periods of being "stuck."

Barry, I see you resized your pics, much better for viewing [IMG] The scenic work looks good, nice looking rocks. Good to have somewhere to practice techniques.

Good luck with the white water, something I don't think I could do! Please show us the results, and how you did it [IMG]

The scenery looks excellent it makes the layout so much more realistic.

The best image size I find is 800 by 600.

Look forward to seeing more pics

Looks real good to me! I especially like the barn. What did you use for that straw inside of it?

I like your Barn. I made note of the straw in the loft. Very nice effect!

I use Envirotex Lite for water on my railroad. It don't stink while curing, but it takes a day to harden. It is not a good choice for running water though, but for lakes or calm streams it's ok.

For water I would suggest you try the acrylic gloss medium. It is sold under trade names such as Podgy. You will need to build up the gloss medium in layers with a paint brush. You will likely need 15 to 20 layers. This will take several days as the gloss medium will need to dry between applications. In my case I put on a coat before I left for work in the morning and one in the evening. Using a brush gives the added benefit of creating waves/ripples.
    Good luck on your project.

good job, now you just need some ole nags fer the scene, lol. Yesteryear creations makes a awesome barb wire fence and a windmill, that would like great with that. I plan on having a decent sized cattle ranch on layout, will even call it the same as the one I work for.

Once again great job, rocks look great, good luck with further exploits. Adios from texas,. wyatt
