Hi Hien, Welcome to Trainboard! Nice CN units! I ran on down and picked up a bottle of the Polly S Flat Finish, and sprayed these 2 units with it. For some reason there is a bit of a whiteish tint with this flat, but it is DEAD FLAT! It's hard to tell the Lionhead one is the loco that was ruined by Dullcote! The Polly S really thinned it down! I had to make channels to run the ditch light wires, so that is what I am working on right now.
Did you guys notice Hein's CN Repaint, it has the rear cab roof extension as well as the dynamic brakes are removed and plated over!:
Hi Rob, Pollyscale and Floquil turns slightly wihte if you haven't stirred enough or applied too thick.
The white is probably talc. Sometime Matte Medium will leave white spots as well. You guys are going nuts out pacing MT on these.
Cool to see all the repaints!! Great work as usual. I've been round' and round' on clear finishes and I keep going back to the Micro-scale system...gloss coat and flat coats. They are safe on all types of paints and give you a great finish you can count on. The Polyscale and Testors Acrylic have a lot of talc and will almost always leave a frosting...I can't count how many shells I've had to strip or throw away because that stuff frosted on me. Another great gloss coat to use is Future Floor Wax thinned a little with alcohol. Joe
Thanks for all the warm welcomes and the kind words regarding my work, will try my best and hope my work help this scale grow. BTW, doesn't matter what brand you use for final coating, you need plenty of light because what you pray is clear hart to see and control, the more you pray the more you change the color and ruin your work specially in black or dark colors will turn from black to gray and that what you do not expect.Just apply enough to clear and cover the film. I have painted numbers of engines this two brand I use for for mine work and they give me the best result never have a complaint. 1.Badger Model 11-603. 2. Floquil F110015. Hope this help for all modelers. Again try to control and pray just enough in you loco's shell. Good luck. Hien
Hien, Don't worry about your spelling. A lot of can't spell, either. And... maybe praying while spraying is a good thing.
Here is another beauty one, thanks Robert, your fans set and decal bring her to life, she found a good home and going to Japan real soon. Hien.
That is one colorful engine. It looks like Alex is giving Jurg some competion in ordering custom build running stock.
I wish! But... no... Jurg's collection will probably never be equaled. Jurg just has too many one of a kind, that can never be duplicated. Of course... I have a few pieces now and in the works that will be one ups.
Praying!! It is not just praying whilst spraying. I pray every time I take a #80 drill to something or tap something 16BA ( a really small screw size in the U.K) or go anywhere near anything that should move with Cyanoacrylate glue! I find myself holding my breath when assembling MTL couplings even when I'm using the jig as well! KEV
Thank you, Gerd. Sorry :struggle: to take an order away from you, but I wanted a "clean" loco this time. :wink3:
Hi Alex, you haven't taken anything away, you haven't ordered with me in the first place Fair enough, Hien's work is great and as you said "new"
