Extreme Weathering...

    Paul - you have actually seen that loco in person. Here is what it looked like over a year ago. I was never fully satisfied with the weathering (the overspray on the nose and long hood) and used that model as a gunnie pig for a 'de-weathering' technique I have been working on. It is similar to Jim Six's Q-Tip weathering.

    I liked the results so much, I upgraded the handrails and stanchions to scale versions

    I can see where you might want to remove a little of the grime, and that is ONLY behind the SOO in that last picture...otherwise, that unit looks beautiful, very natural, looks really sleek.

    I'm new around here and to model railroading....but I have seen several comments to this affect in this thread. Why are BNSF locos not grimy? Do they wash them or something?? I only ask because it is my intent to model BNSF...
