Big Horn Wye The Siding will be on the LEFT and the WYE to the RIGHT and as you can see, you are now out of the canyon.
After traveling through Whiplash Curve, Lava Tank is next I nearly missed it myself. The guide shows it on the RIGHT but I think it's on the LEFT as show below
Onto the D&S myself... If you get into Durango early, go down to the Depot and wait for the trains to come back from Silverton. They get back around DINNER time so keep that in mind. You can get some great shots right at the gate as they come in. Here is the first train coming in Durango & Silverton; Video Clip#1 (15 Sec.) Description : D&S#482 arriving back at Durango, CO Location : Durango, Colorado And here is the second train coming in... Durango & Silverton; Video Clip#2 (15 Sec.) Description : D&S#481 arriving back at Durango, CO Location : Durango, Colorado Another raifan tipped me off that #482 was on the turntable and we took off to catch that. You might be just as lucky as this was not part of the Photographers Special, just being there at the right time the night before. Durango & Silverton; Video Clip#3b (32 Sec.) Description : D&S#482 rotating on the turntable Location : Durango, Colorado
Thank you to everybody that helped! I have printed the entire thread and will be using it as a cheat sheet.
Good Luck!!!!!!! Looking forward to see a fresh topic on your trip when you get back... :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:
OK, OK, you've convinced ME now! I'm not that far away from Durango, and a little further from Chama, but on mone of my July weeks off I'm gonna try to get to one or both to torture-test my little Kodak CX 5 MP digital and drain as many lithium batteries as I can. And as for weather- I'm well aware, having camped at 9300 feet on Pinyon Mesa in western Colorado and chipped ice out of a coffeepot in JULY.
And you will definitely see it! I'm taking off in about an hour or 90 minutes. I'll be back in about 3 weeks and probably will not upload any photos unless I find a high speed line somewhere.
