I was hoping I could find someone with some access to more info that I have here at MTL. I'm working on a Z Scale module of Dunsmuir California about 1960-65 and need information on the Diesel Facilities built on the north side of the yard area. I have drawings during it's steam period, but many of the structures were torn down by 1960. I have the issues on Dunsmuir in Main Line Modeler, but can't seen to find any photo's or drawings on how the yard was changed once steam was gone. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Cheers Joe MTL
Dunsmuir John Signor had a book "Rails in the Shadow of Mt. Shasta" a few years ago and there is some photos and maps in it. I believe he has a newer book out since then. Might check with a book store or hobby shop. Espee remodeled the yard and engine service facilities in the 1960's. The roundhouse was still there then but had been reduced in size.
Have you tried contacting "Photobob," Robert (There goes my memory again) who lives in Dunsmuir and has a great website of rail photos around the area dating back years ago. Sorry about the last name. Try a google search for "photobob."
Thanx for the heads up on this one. The images are superb. Photobob has been shooting SP since he was 15. A real long term bona fide train photographer. http://www.snowcrest.net/photobob/
