Hey all. Hopefully I can find some help here.

    Here is the story.
Of course anything new I buy never works right out of the box. pretty fed up.

So just bought a digitrax dcs210+ evolution express set. This comes with the dt602 throttle. The last few days I have been using it on the home layout which is just a circle track and its has been operating fine.

Today I went to my local club and ran my engines. I didn't get but halfway through and lost complete control of my consist. It even shorted out the layout and everyone's trains went down. If I unplug it everything goes back to normal. I thought this was strange as I did not press anything when this happened. I also noticed the LN in the center of the screen went RED. I'm assuming this stands for loconet.

I plug the dt602 back in and of course get the short again. I was trying to select a loco but it said my consist was needing to be stealed like if another throttle had selected it. It was only me and one other guy at the club and his train is no where near the number consist mine was. Nor was anyone/Locomotive on the layout.

Here is the kicker. At said club there is a separate programming station with a small command station set up. I went to plug in my throttle and put one loco from my consist on the track. Guess what ... It worked fine. but still asked me about stealing the loco which actually worked when I press the "yes steal loco" button.
On the main layout it was like it was all frozen.

I'm now home and as soon as I plug in the throttle its starts to buzz. Said buzzin has subsided.
But now it says "run activity display restore from IDLE"
and Display Dimming to IDLE due to inactivity?

But I run a train and its working?

What the heck is going on ?! :(
    Thanks in advance!

Can't help with most but maybe some. I'm running DCC-EX with a wireless WiTcontroller throttle.

I select a loco and run it with the throttle. I increase the speed and the throttle sends the command to the command station. The CS sends the command to loco until told otherwise by the throttle.

If I turn the throttle off the loco is going to keep running as I never dropped it and the command station (CS) hasn't been told to do otherwise by the throttle. I can even turn on my second throttle and select the loco on it and slow, stop, run faster, etc. the loco that was running and was started on the first throttle. I can select the loco from both throttle as the same time and control it by either at the same time. The CS takes the commands and passes them on and doesn't care who sent them as long as they are sending to the same loco.

I believe that was happening in your situation. The throttle went down and the command station kept sending commands to the loco and when you came back it sees it as a new throttle and is asking do you want to acquire the loco that is running.

If the throttle is tethered to the command station I could see it possibly shutting things down (looks like the throttle can be a tethered or radio throttle....which is it?) if it has a problem. If it is wireless then I can't see how that would happen but if it did then it did.

After charging my 600 series throttles; I have to plug my throttle into the command station as my wifi indicator goes to red on the throttle and I can't do anything with it until I plug in and it then indicates "LN". Once I disconnect from the command station it immediately finds the correct WIFI channel that I am using on my layout (your club could be on a different channel than your home layout) and I am good to go. Make sure your battery is fully charged. If the throttle is "humming"; that's not normal.
If the throttle is not responding it can be a low battery (no indicator until you plug in to re-charge) or the ever popular slot-max error. Both have caused me to have non-responsive throttles.

Shorting out other locos is odd.

    Regards,

Maybe a connector problem on the LN jack of the throttle, or on the club layout?

Any of the wire 'finger' contacts in the plug/jack look bent/mangled, etc.?

I grabbed one of my DT602D throttles and went downstairs 300' + from the wireless loconet transmitter and still showed I was faintly connected to my Dtrx0163 23 digitrax wiress channel. From your video; you aren't connected to any wireless channel. This should show up at the very top of the throttle where your's is blank. Nothing will respond as you aren't connected. Everything should work once connected via cable. When you are home; can you connect via cable and run your loco? Using the SAME cable that was used in the video? Did you go into the throttle options and make sure that everything is set back to the defaults? Make sure that 3 Duplex RF allow = on and 4 IR allow = on.

At your club; does anybody else use the DT602D? Look at their display when they are connected wirelessly to see the differences. Have them use the same cable that you were using to see if they to get the same results, when plugged in. If nobody is using that throttle (they could be on the 400 series, older); check the digitrax module where you plugged in to find out what it is. UR92 is what I use and this has been replaced by UR93.

Like I stated in an earlier response; I will only get the screen that shows in your video after finishing a charge BUT once plugged into the transceiver; the throttle comes back to life and I think it shows LN on the top. After unplugging from the transceiver it automatically connects to the digitrax wireless network. If your throttle works at home, both plugged in and wireless..... check the other members throttles and transceiver. If the cable works with other throttles and at your home layout with the same throttle....let us know and maybe somebody has some more ideas.

    Good luck,

    Brian

One other idea; at the club (with the throttle not connected by a cable) - turn your throttle on and hit the menu key (below the "C" key) and press menu item 3-Utility Tasks.
Then select item 5-Duplex RF Scan. Then select "A" Scan All. It should start to scan all channels and then find the active channel. Join it and then exit.
You should then be connected wirelessly and your LCD screen should confirm this (at the top). If it doesn't scan and not find the active channel; that's an issue but hopefully it finds it and connects.

HMMM This is interesting info. So the throttle I have its already not equipped for duplex operation, Thus means I HAVE to plug it in to play with trains anyways. This is why at the end of the video I showed what happened when I plugged it in. I pretty much created a short and shuts off the COMPLETE layout which is an ungodly amount of track space haha. Anyways. I went ahead and just returned as I wanted the duplex throttle anyways. I will getting that one in soon and hopefuly it will be fine. I will keep your information for further troubleshooting if need be of course. Also the day after I was at the club and 2 people were using the duplex dt602 and had no issues running trains. Dont know what it was. BUT digitrax finally did respond to my ticket and said to send it in. Either way I had already returned my other one as I didnt want to waste the time to deal with it. They even said they needed to check out the board and see if something happened. All in all I think it was bad luck which I get a lot with these electronics ESPECIALLY Broadway Limited haha. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Hope it goes well from here as I really enjoy and HAVE had luck with digitrax. Take care man! Cheers !
