Heard this on the news today. Not too scary. Just a grain train, though I'm sure there will be a lot of anger about the contamination of plant life. And woo boy I hope it wasn't GMO, but in either case. http://fox40.com/2014/11/25/train-derails-in-feather-river-canyon/
That's a steep embankment. Wonder what was the cause? I heard reports that California fish & game is upset about all the grain in the river.
California Salmon ranges are in Crisis andit impacts not just the environment, but the livelihoods of California fishermen. So, it's not unreasonable for fish and game to be upset. I mean, it's a "what ya gonna do" situation, but proper to be upset.
Upset, but about what? There's zero pollution involved. For the tiny amount of that stream possibly even impacted, not a single fingerling will be impacted, unless a car landed on one.
The D&RGW had to deal with this terrain for many of its derailments. They should send a crew from Denver. Are there any bears in this area? Once the mash ferments, the bears will be drunk. Happens on the old GN highline even today as the grain leaks from cars, derailments etc.
