    Keith-

I think you will get a quicker answer if you post this on the DCC forum.

According to the Litchfield site and Digitrax here is the info you are after

DN163K1B Designed to fit the Kato N scale pre-2006 SD40-2 and any year SD70MAC locos. Golden-White LEDs for added realism

DN163K1C Designed to fit the Kato N scale SD40-2 year 2006 and after.

The K1C has the flat LED rather than the regular light bulb.

I believe they are identical except for the light I would not know if it would work as required in the SD70, both sites recommend the K1B for the Kato SD-70

They do but personally I don't like them. I have 2 in a pair of SD70's because my LHS didn't have K1B's so I opted for the K1C's. Reason I don't like them is because compared to one of my SD70's with the K1B's the lights aren't as bright when compared to each other. Only reason I can come up with is because the surface mount LED on the K1C sits further back then the standard 3mm LED on the K1B does you loose some of the intensity by the time the light gets to the light tube.

According to our Digitrax rep last week, the K1B is effectively history.
I think it's a mistake to eliminate it.
Dropping the decoder for the Sharknose was a mistake also.
