    1. Can I install a DCC sound decoder inside the locomotive or the tender?
    2. What DCC manufacturer do you recommend?

    Probably. As soon as you convert the Lionel to 2-rail DCC operation.

    What Lionel loco are you trying to do this in? I still have a ton of Lionel equipment and might be able to help you out.

    I would think though that the TMCC that Lionel uses would be your best bet. I have it and love it.
