    Re: Intalling a decoder on a F59PHI
I ran out of DZ123 decoders so I put a TCS M1 decoder in another loco tonight after work.

The TCS and Digitrax decoders are too big, so I cut the sides off the decoder cradle for more room.

I used the light board for power pickup, and got rid of the original motor pickups.

I cut the wires to 5mm (2/10" for those still using inches)length, tined the ends with solder, then soldered to the undersides of the motor lugs to minimize chance of shorts.

I un-soldered the diode off the light board, and the leg of the resistor that contacts the frame power pickup, and bent the resistor so I can easily solder the white headlight wire there after the loco is re-assembled.

    Pretty easy huh? [IMG]
