THE POLAR EXPRESS™ comes to life when the train departs the Durango depot for a 1 hour, 15 minute round-trip journey to the North Pole. Read along with the magical story and meet Santa and his helper. Enjoy hot cocoa and cookies, and a special gift for the kids. Make this an annual holiday tradition! Kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the adventure. Cascade Canyon Winter Train Experience the backcountry winter wonderland of the San Juan Mountains onboard the Cascade Canyon Winter Train, beginning November 23, 2005. The train departs daily (until January 1, 2006) at 10:00 a.m. and arrives back in Durango at 3:05 p.m. Complimentary hot cocoa and apple cider will be waiting for you at Cascade Canyon, where the train stops for almost an hour by the beautiful Animas River. This vintage 1880’s train, made up of first-class parlor cars, travels to Cascade Canyon and back, with musical entertainment and a champagne toast at midnight. Additional cash cocktail and beverage service will be available onboard. We invite you to wear your best Victorian attire for a costume contest on the train. Winter Photographer's Special Don’t miss the second-annual Winter Photographer’s Special on Sunday, February 19, 2006.
