They are out there. But they are pretty rare. They would be only used if thetre was no othey way to get the tracks in a certin place. Real railroads very rarely used them , they would also tend to be very very large radius....Mike
Here in Europe where space is often at a premium curved turnouts are very common. I walked past a rail junction today with 6 turnouts and 5 of them were curved. John.
Good grief John! That's a high percentage of curved / straight turnouts I guess it's a lot easier for a 'real' train to pass through a curved switch than model trains with unrealistic thicknesses and depths of wheel flanges, wouldn't you think?

I love the photo of the hoppers going thru the s curve created by three curved switches! Just what conventional model railroad wisdom says to never do! It would be a blast to build something like this and I have no doubt it could be laid to work perfectly. So who's going to do it? Gary
