What company makes a good match of this color of paint? If no one does what is a good mix for it. Doanld
Donald: I have painted several CSX MofW "pumpkins" and I used Badger Model-Flex BNSF Orange. This is an excellent match for these units when newly painted. To model an older faded unit I would use a little white in the orange to change the shade appropriately. Chris Toth
Thinking of the CSX "Pumpkin" paint sceme.... Where can I get a set of decals for this??? I been wanting to model a CSX MofW GP-38 and can't seem to find the decals... If my memory serves me right Microscale makes them... Anyone on this subject know where I can get them or if someone can get them for me and pay for them and I pay you for them???? If someone is near a hobby shop that has them e-mail me at: yellowstone10@hotmail.com If someone buys them and e-mails me the total price with price + tax + shipping i'll gladly pay someone for this... Being I can't get them!!!! Thanks in advanced...
John: Microscale makes the decals for the CSX "pumpkins" (set #4141). I don't have an extra decal set on hand for them, but both Walthersand Caboose Hobbies has them in stock. Chris Toth
Chris, Thanks! I been wanting to model a CSX pumpkin for awhile and the hobby shop closest to me is or has discontinued the whole decal line being in my area i'm the only customizer/painter left!! They said that the number dwindled down to almost nothing and to carry a decal line was more or less worthless to the shop so. I lost out in that field I'll give them a try and see what I can get THANKS again....
Chris, I tried that number for the CSX pumpkin decals in caboose hobbies and it doesn't list set #4141 ???? Anyway, I have one set of regular CSX decals for the basic gray and blue loco that I would trade for one set of the CSX "pumpkin" decals... One set to me as in enough decals for one loco.... Anyone????
John: Go back to the Caboose Hobbies page and search by SKU # for the following number: 0460-4141 Use it just as it looks above and it will show you that it is in stock. Chris
Chris, I got it that time. Not a bad price for $2.50 I believe it was! Anyway i'm going to give them a call. See what I can do about getting a set..... THANKS!
If you email me your address <i have a set which is used but you can still letter an engine and caboose with it. I used only a couple of numbers to reletter the athearn special edition set(Which I no longer own). You are welcome to have the set.
Bratnut, My e-mail address is: yellowstone10@hotmail.com Drop a line or 2 in my inbox being I can't get your e-mail address or I would e-mail you... Let me know if you would want anything for them! I sure do appreciate the concern and time.. Let me know if I owe you anything... THANKS!
What all did CSX have painted orange besides the locos and some cars, and will the decals do some of the rolling stock also? Donald
Donald, CSX had loco's, and rolling stock that were all maintenence no others that I know or can think of was orange... Gondola's, flat's, maybe some box's, ummm I donno what all type of cars they painted orange but I know they had the flat's and gondola's. Some flat's were remaining yellow like TTX leased units...i'll see what I can find and if I find any online i'll be sure to post 'em ... Hows that? I know of a few that are online so.... Be back with some..
Ok I got a few that I can post from online sources..... And one type car I forgot to mention. CSX's balast hoppers... This top picture is a modified covered hopper with the top removed. And I believe this one to be an old retired hopper salvaged to be relived as a balast hopper with a new life.. Recycled??? [ 09 September 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ]

And now a couple gondola's that were asigned tie handling cars with a crane top to unload A few of these I have to post... Different angles for different looks to model them.... Overall good pictures... Another of the few pictures of this car.. And a good side view of the same car... [ 09 September 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ]

Also found while searching in a site. I found a few Difco side dump gondola's mixed in with the old regular blue ones dating back to the Chessie era.... and the last for now till I find more.... Another difco side dump. If my judgement is right these were of 52 ft size... Don't quote me, I may be wrong. As it is it seems to be a good guess that they are 52 footers [ 09 September 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ]

And now something to pull those MOW cars.. You have your choice... U18B GP-38 "Trains mag. All American Diesel" GP-40.... Have fun guys.. hope this helps and is appreciated.
