CP Skeleton Pole Car Question Does anybody know what diameter wheels are used on CP Skeleton Pole Cars? http://www.railfan.ca/cgi-bin/view.cgi?image=Guelph_Junction_19.03.04_8573.jpg
Looking at the trucks, I'd say 36" wheels. The TTPX cars like the one to the left rode on 36" wheels according to the drawings I have. Art
MR had drawings of a Georgia Pacific car that would work. The car is basically a frame with platforms on the ends, a deep center sill and log bunks. I have a copy of the plans around here somewhere, but my hobby room is a mess cause I'm trying to clean up and get ready to start building a layout. PM me your e-mail address and if and when I locate them, I'll scan them and send them to you. Art
Thanks, PM sent. I have a few of the KASLO SHOPS DISTRIBUTING CPR / BCR 62' SKELETON LOG (POLE) CARS kits that I'm working on and I find them to be a real pain in the .... Parts are warped and some parts are molded too thin as if the mold was not properly cleaned (is more like flash then a part). I have also been doing some measuring by printing out some pictures and taking measurements of the trucks and wheels and measuring MT trucks and it all leans more toward 36" than 33". But a 1.0mm difference on the pictures can be the difference between 33" and 36" and you can only blow up the picture so much before it goes grainy.
If I remember correctly, the GP cars I'm thinking of are 100-ton cars, so 36" wheels would be correct.. Got the PM. When I bump into the plans I'll send them along. Art
